From Vision to Vogue: Shooting Couture in New York City

The Location: Studio REIN

Working for Harper’s Bazaar has always been a dream. In February 2023, I traveled from Germany to New York to photograph couture collections from Moschino, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Siriano, and fine jewelry from Tiffany & Co.

The shoot took place in the iconic Studio REIN – a space that’s hosted names like VOGUE, DIOR, and HBO. The creative energy in that room was something else.

Building the Mood: From Concept to Couture

We started with a black leather theme but ended up shifting into something far more vibrant and feminine. Our stylist, Luca from Los Angeles, completely nailed the direction with pieces that perfectly matched the energy of New York Fashion Week, which kicked off the week after.

Big Production, Bigger Energy

Unlike my usual intimate studio setup in Germany, this was a full-scale production: one makeup artist, one hair artist, two stylists, three assistants, one tech, and a six-light setup.

Directing a team at that level was new for me—but also thrilling. It pushed me in the best way, creatively and professionally.

Shooting in a Pro Studio with a Cyc Wall

There’s a reason top fashion shoots happen in studios with a cyc wall. That smooth, endless background removes all distractions and gives the final images a polished, elevated feel.

In this case, the cyc wall helped us control light with total precision. Every shot came out clean and print-ready. If you’re aiming for that crisp, editorial quality—this is how you get there.

Alexina Graham – What It’s Like Working with a Real Pro

Working with Alexina Graham was honestly such a wild experience—in the best way.

It kind of felt like cheating. I’d show her the mood board, say a few words, and boom—new pose, new expression. Every single frame was different. She just got it.

She’s also absolutely stunning, so honestly, it was hard to take a bad photo of her. But what stood out most was her attitude: professional, grounded, and totally focused.

It was one of those rare shoots where everything clicked—the styling, the light, the energy. And Alexina brought it all together.

Published in Harper’s Bazaar – A Career Milestone in Fashion Photography

Sharing Pages with Icons Like Annie Leibovitz and Richard Avedon

Seeing my name and my work in Harper’s Bazaar felt unreal. This is the same magazine that published work by legends like Annie Leibovitz, Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton, and Lillian Bassman.

To be featured in the same publication as them? That’s something I’ll never forget.

It made me proud. It made it real. And yes—it elevated my brand. Moments like this remind you how far you’ve come and where you want to go next.

Because it’s one thing to say you’re a photographer. It’s another to say your work has been published in Harper’s Bazaar.
